The aim of this course is to provide learners the competencies required by employers of those engaged in entry level administrative, managerial or commercial position. The award is a broad general qualification giving learners scope to develop and progress in a variety of ways within organisations of all sizes, including one which learners may set up themselves. The modern business environment places emphasis on small group, multi-skilled working and devolved responsibility of individual units of operation. Therefore, learners must be able to respond to rapidly changing circumstances and to recognise and exploit new opportunities.
Successful candidates may progress onto further study in a number of business degree programs in the UK.

This course is offered in collaboration with James Watt College of Further & Higher Education in the UK. The college provides one of the widest ranges of advanced and non-advanced courses in Scotland. The program is regulated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), which is the national body in Scotland responsible for the development, accreditation, assessment and certification of non-degree qualifications taken in schools, colleges and workplaces across Scotland.

Specifically, the course objectives are as follows.- To prepare students with knowledge and skills such as planning, analyzing and reporting.
- To develop employment skills and enhancing candidates’ employment prospects.
- To enable progression and articulation with a range of professional accounting bodies.
- To develop study and research skills.
- To develop awareness of current accounting professional issues such as legal and technical considerations.
Successful candidates can gain advanced entry to Year 2 or Year 3 of a degree. HND provide a guaranteed link into Year 3 of specific degrees where the college itself delivers a number of degrees. James Watt College is associated to Heriot-Watt University, Napier University, Northumbria University, University of Abertay and University of Paisley.
Assessment
Assessment is by case studies, assignments and examinations.
Entry Requirements
The admission requirements are:-- Minimum 18 years of age
- LCCI Graduate Access program (GAP) in Accounting
- Higher National Certificate in Accounting
- IELTS 6.0 or TOFEL 550 (For non-English speaking countries)

9 months full-time; 12 months part-time.
