Hospitality programme combines both academic and pratical skills
It has been said many times “there is no substitute for experience”. In the hospitality industry it can be said “there is no JOB without experience”.
The hospitality industry is quite unique in that, in the past, many of the higher management staff never completed any formal education and rose to the top through hard work and many small promotions during a long career. Times have changed somewhat and now a formal qualification in hospitality management is becoming mandatory for staff wanting to enter lower management jobs in the hospitality industry. The problem is that higher management wants not only theoretical knowledge, but practical experience as well. That is how the AEC Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management is meeting the needs of the industry.
After completing three terms of theoretical and practical study, students are then placed in a venue for their training attachment. The student completes a six month attachment during which they refine the practical skills needed in the industry and also get an opportunity to put their theoretical knowledge into “real world” practice. The six month training attachment is a vital part of the student’s education and preparation, and is a stepping stone for a bright future in the hospitality industry. Not only do students gain the knowledge and skills necessary but they also begin to build their network of contacts which is invaluable for their future career.
The hospitality industry is very dynamic and constantly innovating to meet the needs of consumers. This means that as educators we also need to update our products to meet these changing needs. The AEC Diploma of Hospitality Management is an innovative mix of theoretical knowledge and practical skills that provides students with the tools to build a successful career in the hospitality field.

Former Deputy Principal Hospitality, Travel & Tourism
"Pursuing my education with AEC is a way of fulfilling my life long learning desire. The
programme has given me an opportunity to keep abreast with the latest issues around the
world. All the modules are very practical in nature. The well-experienced, friendly,
approachable and readily available teaching staff have further helped to ease the
challenges of juggling the course with numerous other responsibilities. A million thanks
to AEC for their awareness in identifying the shortage of professionals in Singapore and
providing the opportunity to have this course made available here without leaving the
comfort of our home, Singapore."

"AEC is an organization that is customer friendly and is attuned to the needs of its
customers. The staff are responsive to our needs which is a clear reflection of its
emphasis on building good personal relationship with its customers. The programme
offered is comprehensive and caters to diverse interests of the students. Its intensive
delivery of a modular-based programme fits in perfectly with busy working students.
The course materials provided have been useful, detailed and gave us a better insight
into the course taken. The programme outline takes into consideration the changing global
needs and is relevant to the current situation."

“I graduated from AEC in Singapore after obtaining the Diploma in Hospitality Management specialising in F&B operations. I had the unique opportunity of undergoing an Industrial Attachment for six months with a Luxury Serviced Apartment Group. Prior to that I was a Botany Graduate from the University of Mandalay in Myanmar.
I was accepted for attachment at the Serviced Residence at Fraser Suites located at River Valley Point in Singapore. It was my first time that I had been working as a trainee overseas. It was very interesting working in the F & B department and I learnt many things.
I not only learnt the finer aspects of customer service but also my colleagues taught me how to cook all the dishes on the menu! I have never dreamed that I would learn how to cook western food and even Singaporean mee goreng.
I was very delighted with my experience of being a trainee for six months. It really opened my eyes and I am even thinking of starting my own business sometime in the future.
Although it was a short period of time for me, it was a valuable experience and one I will never forget. I hope that my dream of owning my own business will come true one day.
Overall my Diploma study and attachment was a very enjoyable experience and I recommend it to anyone wanting to enter the hospitality and tourism industry”.

"I’d like to write here to express my happiness and honor to be a student of AEC College. I like the college, the quality, environment and all the people here from the teachers to staff because all 9of them are very nice and friendly.
I also would like to especially thank Mr Christophe and Ms Pollonia who are very impressive to me by their enthusiasm and highly responsible manner in taking care of students. They are very helpful and friendly.
This makes me feel at home and confident to study here. I am willing to recommend AEC College to any student who wants to study and get the knowledge for their future. Once again, thank you very much."
