AEC College is holding an Alumni Reception on Friday, 2nd July 2010.
Please note that in order to facilitate your attendance at this reception your evening off on the Wednesday, 30 June 2010, of the second week has been changed to Friday, 2 July 2010.
To reiterate, you will have no class on Friday, 2 July 2010 so you can attend the Alumni Reception while you will have class on Wednesday, 30 June 2010.Wednesday evening off (30/06/10) is changed to second week Friday evening off(02/07/10).

With effect from 23 February 2010 all programmes under AEC Business School Pte Ltd, Brighton Commercial Training Centre Pte Ltd, AEC Resource Pte Ltd, Flexi Learning Systems Pte Ltd and AEC Bilingual Education Pte Ltd had been subsumed under AEC College Pte Ltd. This is in compliance to the Private Education Act 2009. AEC College Pte Ltd is registered with the Council for Private Education (CPE).

More than 50 alumni, students, faculty and staff attended the 2009 Alumni Night on Friday, 6 Nov at the AEC Keppel Room. The annual event allowed alumni to catch up with each other and develop their social network. The programme included a captivating lecture on the 'Credit Crunch' by Dr John Cadle and a candid sharing session by alumnus Augustine Tan, CEO of Keppel Land.

The Singapore National Day Awards recognises distinguished service to Singapore. This year, a total of 3,264 individuals in 19 award categories received National Day Honours. Mr. Gopinath Pillai was conferred The Public Service Star (Bar) under Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador-at-Large. Mr. Gopinath Pillai is the Chairman of Windmill International Pte Ltd (WIL) and Gateway Distriparks Ltd. He is currently the Executive Chairman of Savant Infocomm Pte Ltd and the director of several private companies in Singapore and India. With a degree in Economics and History from the University of Malaya, Mr. Gopinath Pillai has moved from teaching, banking, project approvals and finance, to working in senior positions or running various companies. Mr. Gopinath Pillai has received many awards, such as the Friend of Labour Award; Meritorious Award; Friend of MCD Award; The Public Service Star Award (BBM); and, Friend of IT Award. We congratulate Mr. Gopinath Pillai for his outstanding achievements.

Video Conferencing Capability Set Up at AEC
20th October 2008
Last week, a new video conferencing system was set up at AEC. At the system's inauguration, a first-ever video link between AEC Singapore and the University of Birmingham in England was viewed by AEC staff and management. All AEC classrooms and conference rooms are wired to receive the video conferencing service. The state-of-the-art video conferencing link will be used to hold video conferences among representatives of AEC and overseas partner institutions in the UK and Australia, and also provide the vehicle for live, real-time lectures and other presentations from off-site participants, thus greatly enhance the ability of the school to serve our students.

James E. Martin is a professional educator with over 20 years of teaching and administrative experience in higher education. He received an M.A. in TESOL from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (USA) and a Ph.D. in English from Bowling Green State University (USA). A native-born American, he has lived and taught widely in the Asia-Pacific region, including PR China, Taiwan, and Guam, as well as in Hawaii and the mainland United States.

New staff appointments at the School of Hospitality and Tourism

We would like to welcome aboard our latest additions to the Hospitality, Travel & Tourism Team.
Mr Andrew Preece is the in-coming Deputy Principal who will assist the Principal, Mr Leslie Sim, in the day-to-day operations and admin of the School of Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Division. Andrew hails from Australia and has lectured in major Asian cities before undertaking his 2nd stint in Singapore. Andrew will lecture and be involved in all aspects of the school.
Mr Abdul Raoof, a familiar face and having taught with AEC for close to 2 years, has been appointed Head of Academics. Abdul will focus on exams, curriculum, quality control and student activities. He also lectures and is involved in critical aspects of the school.
Full Industrial Attachment programme implemented for Hospitality Management programmes

AEC companies awarded SQC-PEO status

SPRING has assessed AEC and has determined that AEC has met the requirements for the SQC-PEO award. AEC was among the first companies to be awarded SQC-PEO status when the award was set up in August 2003. Upon the expiry of the first award, AEC was re-assessed. SPRING is satisfied with AEC and has renewed our SQC status until December 2010.

AEC College launches Foundation Diploma in English programme
Singapore, January 2008
In order to facilitate progression for international students wishing to study AEC Certificates, Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas and ACCA programmes, AEC has launched its Foundation Diploma in English as a Foreign Language programme. Successful students are tested against IELTS equivalent levels as some programmes require that they sit the British Council IELTS test before starting their AEC programmes. This English programme also ensures that students have the requisite level of academic English to eventually progress to full undergraduate degree programmes.
