Programme Objective
To arm and train students in operational management, marketing and control of travel related services. Careers in Travel and Tourism involve the sharing of customs, unique peculiarities/features and geography of destinations and attractions .to guests and tourists. The close interaction with tourists and travelers is suitable for those with are articulate, with a flair for meeting people and involving them with activities and events.

Module 1: Background to Retailing
The module is designed to provide a general understanding of the retail business environment, and explore how it has developed and changed over the recent period. The development of retailing is examined in terms of trends as well as goods and is looked at comparatively between two major economies.
The basic concept of sourcing goods, having them delivered to a retail outlet and selling them for profit is also examined.
Module 2: Introduction to the Retailer
The module is designed to provide an understanding of the retail outlet. It will provide an introduction to the retail possibilities in terms of size, type and location of outlet, and will look at how properties can change from one type of retailer to another. It will give a brief insight into the roles and responsibilities of the retailer by examining the variety of job positions which exist in a large retail company. It will also briefly look at the business aspects of running a retail outlet for profit.
Module 3 : Introduction to the Customer Experience
The module is designed to provide a general overview of the customer care skills involved when staff members are dealing with retail customers. It will look at general customer care points including verbal communication, body language and written communication. It will also look at dealing with non selling situations such as enquiries, complaints or suggestions from the public.
Module 4 : Basic Numeracy
This module will introduce students to the ‘core’ business skill of numeracy. While this is a generic skill, this module will be set within the context of the retail environment.
Meeting the demands of everyday life as well as working within the retail sector there is a need to be comfortable with numbers, simple graphs, symbols, diagrams and the use of calculators.
Module 5 : Introduction to Computing
The aim of this course is to review the technical aspects of computer systems and their role within the wider ambit of information systems to enable students to effectively apply the computer as a support tool within their study programme and profession. The course will explore fundamental concepts including hardware and software; input, output and storage devices, communications and the Web; information systems development; multimedia; and database design. In addition, these concepts will be applied within a variety of workplace and social situations; the social and employment implications of information technology; and a systems approach to the practical development of computer-based solutions to selected tasks.

Assessment
A variety of assessment methods are used including assignments and examinations
The assessment of each subject will be based on 60% for final exam and 40% for presentations and projects.

16 years; GEC "O" "N" level or Completion of High School(for international students); IELTS 4.5 or pass in English level 4 from AEC/Brighton school or Equivalent

Medical Check Up
Upon obtaining of approval of student pass you are advised to make a provision of $100 - $200 for medical checks and visa required by the immigration in Singapore. The usual cost of the medical check up will be at approximately S$60 - S$80.
Living Costs
Students staying in Singapore will incur expenses of approximately S$600 - S$800 a month including transportation, food and housing (room sharing costs). This will depend on the lifestyle of the student.
Application Procedure
Students need to submit the following documents to find the eligibility for the programme.
- AEC Admissions Application Form
- ICA’s Form 16 & New V36
- Photocopy of applicant’s travel documents.
- Photocopy of applicants original birth certificate or other documentary evidence of Birth with both parents’ name if there is no Birth Certificate. In cases where a Notarial Certificate is submitted, a photocopy of the official Birth Document or other documentary evidence must still be included.
- Educational Certificates & Transcripts. In cases where a Notarial Certificate is submitted, a copy of the Education Certificate and result transcripts must still be included.
- 2 Passport sized photos.
- Documentary proof of financial ability. (for visa required countries)
- Bank statement/fixed deposit accounts/savings accounts
