LLB Law Programme Director

(Located in Singapore)

To carry out the following responsibilities:

  • To provide the necessary academic leadership to ensure a high quality programme is delivered to students undertaking the LLB at AEC College;
  • To assure the quality of the provision;
  • Requires specific focus on quality enhancement in order to establish activities which add value to the student experience (e.g. mooting competitions, legal practice placements, guest lectures);
  • To teach two of the following core modules: (i) Skills, Processes and Scholarship; (ii) Criminal Law; (iii) Law of Torts; and (iv) Contract Law; and Contract Law; and
  • To engage in research and/or scholarly activity and/or enterprise activities.

Prerequisites:

  • Hold an LLB (Hons) Law (or equivalent) conferred by a University in England and Wales;
  • Hold a Masters in Law or equivalent professional qualification in law;
  • Have recent exposure to English Law either in an academic or professional capacity;
  • Have some course management experience (e.g. acting as Programme Leader, Year Tutor, Admissions Tutor);
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake administrative tasks;
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

LLB Law Lecturer

(Located in Singapore)

To carry out the following responsibilities:

  • To assist the LLB Programme Director to ensure a high quality programme is delivered to students undertaking the LLB at AEC College;
  • To teach two or three of the core modules on the programme;
  • To engage in research and/or scholarly activity and/or enterprise activities;
  • Monitoring and assuring the quality of the programme (and ensuring compliance with Birmingham City University procedures and policies);
  • To ensure completion of all tasks which are the direct responsibility of the LLB Lecturer, as detailed in the Birmingham City University and AEC College Operational Manual; and
  • To assist the Programme Director as required.

Prerequisites:

  • Hold an LLB (Hons) Law (or equivalent) conferred by a University in England and Wales;
  • Hold a Masters in Law or equivalent professional qualification in law;
  • Have recent exposure to English Law either in an academic or professional capacity;
  • Ability to teach two or three of the following modules: (i) Skills, Processes and Scholarship; (ii) Criminal Law; (iii) Law of Torts; and (iv) Contract Law;
  • Experience of teaching students from culturally diverse backgrounds and/or experience of teaching international students;
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake administrative tasks;
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Student Welfare Officer

This person will be the primary point of contact with our students. He or she will interact with them on a daily basis.

Duties of the position will include:

  • Counseling students on personal or academic matters and pastoral care
  • Planning and carrying out extra-curricular programmes and activities to benefit students and foster a caring psychosocial environment
  • Overseeing and maintaining attendance records and when necessary filing police reports
  • Collating student feedback
  • Setting up and maintaining Student Liaison Committees
  • Monitoring student behaviour and undertaking disciplinary actions
  • Liaising with programme heads, managers, teachers and staff as necessary with regard to student matters

Requirements:

  • Emotionally mature
  • Organized, motivated, self-directed
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Pleasant, friendly personality - able to establish rapport with students
  • Experience in school environments
  • Experience in counseling
  • Ability to speak Mandarin will be useful
