About The LLB Programme

AEC is conducting Birmingham City University's LLB Programme, a Qualifying Law Degree, awarded by Birmingham City University, UK, recognised by the Law Society and Bar Council of the United Kingdom.

To give the course a more on-campus feel and to replicate Birmingham City University's mooting success, a mock-up courtroom will also be featured in AEC's campus premises.

This is a fully taught program of 3 years in Law studies run in the same manner in Singapore as it is done on campus at Birmingham City University. Therefore it distinguishes itself from an external LLB. Further points to note about other differences with an external LLB programme are given below.

  1. Assessment modes are not 100% on written exams, a portion of the assessment is based on coursework and the weightage of which will depend on individual modules.
  2. Entry and admission standards are higher as you will require at least 3 'Cs' at GCE A Level.
  3. Lecturers set and mark the exam papers moderated by Birmingham City University (BCU).
  4. Teaching is administered by full time qualified lecturers interviewed by BCU, who are required to enter practicalities of Law practice instead of only examination orientation.
  5. In Singapore we are currently the only British Law program that is accredited by Joint Academic Stage Board (JASB) of United Kingdom.

Any student seeking to complete one or two academic years at BCU's campus will be guaranteed a place in BCU if they have passed all the previous modules in Singapore. This pathway between Singapore and UK is unique to Law students who are starting afresh and have cost of living constraints.
