BA (Hons) in Business Management Modules, Final Year Programme

Strategic and Change Management

The purpose of this module is to develop student awareness and understanding of the key concepts, theories, contexts, competencies and techniques of the process of strategic decision-making and strategic management within the organisation.

Business Ethics and Corporate Governance

Business Ethics and Corporate Governance: Business operates today in a new marketplace where increasingly "doing the right thing" is seen as "the next big idea", a realisation that risk is minimised when other groups in society see you as acting correctly. In the light of Enron and WorldCom; the anti-globalisation protestors; endless "mandate" groups each with their own set of demands; and even demands from institutional and retail shareholders companies of all sizes are increasingly aware of the new marketplace and recognising the growing significance of being (or at least appearing to be) switched on to business ethics and compliant corporate governance.

Concepts and Principles of International Management

This Module establishes and develops student awareness and understanding of the underpinning concepts, principles, models, theories, processes, competencies and practices of management and international management as relevant study paradigms and variables. The Module then uses these underpinning paradigms and variables to establish and develop student awareness and understanding of comparative and cross-cultural management, international management style, leadership and decision-making issues across European, South East Asian, American, and other international contexts.

Relationship Marketing

This module challenges the short-term view of business relationships with customers and presents arguments for a longer term focus. It considers the concept of relationship marketing from the twin perspectives of business to business marketing (of both tangible goods and services) and consumer goods marketing (of both tangible goods and services). Both profit and not for profit sectors will be included.

Business Research Methods and Project

To develop student capacity to undertake an independent piece of research, to demonstrate a systematic approach to research, analysis and evaluation within a structured business oriented framework. To encourage individual critical evaluation and reflection on their personal development.
