Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management
About the programme
The programme aims to train, coach and impart skills to students to perform roles in the Hospitality Industry. Careers in Hospitality revolve greatly on fulfilling and even exceeding guest requirements and expectations. It is challenging, rewarding and at times even glamorous as you get to meet important and celebrity guests. It is also down-to-earth as you meet all kinds of guests and get involved in upfront service.
Entry Requirements
GCE ‘O’, ‘N’ Levels or
Completed year 10 of high school for international students. or
Matured students above 21 yrs of age
or IELTS 4.5/TOEFL of 500 or equivalent English competency test
Application Procedure
Students need to submit the following documents to find the eligibility for the programme.
- AEC Admissions Application Form
- ICA’s Form 16 & New V36
- Photocopy of applicant’s travel documents.
- Photocopy of applicants original birth certificate or other documentary evidence of Birth with both parents’ name if there is no Birth Certificate. In cases where a Notarial Certificate is submitted, a photocopy of the official Birth Document or other documentary evidence must still be included.
- Educational Certificates & Transcripts. In cases where a Notarial Certificate is submitted, a copy of the Education Certificate and result transcripts must still be included.
- 2 Passport sized photos.
- Documentary proof of financial ability. (for visa required countries)
- Bank statement/fixed deposit accounts/savings accounts

For International Students, your entry to the above mentioned program is also subjected to:
Approval by Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) and any other relevant authority in the Republic of Singapore.

Assessment
A variety of assessment methods are used including assignments and examinations. The assessment of each subject will be based on 60% for final exam and 40% for presentations and projects

Industrial attachment
- Student to pass all modules.
- Student to maintain 90 percent attendance record.
- Student to attend all assign interviews
Modules
- Hospitality Workplace skills
Ability to identify, resolve and responds to conflict situations with colleagues and customers. Coaching skills will be taught to students to sharpen and handle various situations & delivery of effective communications.
- Hospitality Leadership
Study leadership types and theories to model high standards of performance and behaviour. Develop team commitment and cooperation to manage team performance and encourage respect for diversity in workplaces.
- Hospitality Finance
An enquiry into allocating budget resources, monitor financial activities against budget & identify and evaluate options for improved budget performance. Students will be taught to complete financial and statistical reports.
- Hospitality Budgeting
An approach to making journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing budget information and monitoring/reviewing budgets.
- Operational Planning
Learn skills that help to develop administer and monitor operational plans. Conduct ongoing evaluations; manage a framework for health, safety and security; establish and maintain participative arrangements for the management of health, safety and security.
- Workplace Management Skills
Insight into Industrial Relations, disputes and the role of unions. Learn to build a positive industrial relations climate & Establish and implement formal industrial procedures.
- Hotel Procedures
Plan and prepare for meetings, conduct meetings, debrief and follow up meetings.
- Human Resource
Identify recruitment needs, administer recruitment, staff selection. Plan and organise induction programs, maintain staff records; develop and implement staff rosters.
- Research Skills
Skills and techniques of sourcing information, using information, methodology, referencing of information and preparing reports/presentations.

Medical Check Up
Upon obtaining of approval of student pass you are advised to make a provision of $100 - $200 for medical checks and visa required by the immigration in Singapore. The usual cost of the medical check up will be at approximately S$60 - S$80.
Living Costs
Students staying in Singapore will incur expenses of approximately S$600 - S$800 a month including transportation, food and housing (room sharing costs). This will depend on the lifestyle of the student.
