Nabs Naidu

AEC College is a leading education and training services provider for a wide range of educational programmes at all levels. These programmes cater to students and professionals from around the region including China, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and India.

We partner world class and internationally recognised universities and institutions in offering the broad range of quality programmes at various levels that include undergraduate degrees, postgraduate degrees and professional qualifications. One of our long standing partners is the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. Its MBA programme has been ranked the top MBA programme in the United Kingdom by the Economist Intelligence Unit in 2009. Our highly qualified academic staffs are equipped with a broad range of expertise and industry experience. They consist of an optimum mix of local lecturers as well as professors from our partner universities.

We provide quality facilities at AEC. They include a library, internet facilities, computer labs, F&B training room and 11 classrooms of various sizes which can accommodate up to 1000 students. There are 20 dedicated teachers in AEC and our teacher - student ratio is 1:20, depending on programme.

At our Brighton School of Language, we provide quality language and other courses ranging from Secondary 1 to 4 Express Stream to GCE 'N', 'O' and 'A' Levels These courses are conducted by committed faculty and staff who seek to enrich students and educate them in a superb learning environment. Our objective is to ensure that our students obtain quality education in an environment where the teaching pedagogy ensures success.

At the AEC College, we offer undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programmes including the University of Birmingham, MBA. We have run this MBA programme successfully in Singapore since 1994.

Board of Directors

David Ho

Mr. David Ho is the Managing Director of AEC College

David is one of Singapore's leading entrepreneurs. In his 35-year career he has been involved in various international businesses all over the world, including the former USSR, Eastern Europe, Africa, India, China and Asia, and recently Iraq. He has developed a fascination and keen eye for new and emerging business opportunities in Asia.

David is primarily responsible for the overall management, strategic planning and business development for the AEC Group.

David started his career with Citibank Singapore in 1973. In 1978, he left to start his own company, Windmill International Pte Ltd, an industrial bulk commodities trading and logistics company. Windmill was ranked 6th at the 1995 Enterprise 50 Awards.

David graduated from the University of Singapore in 1973 with Hons. in Economics. He is married with 4 children and an active member of the National University of Singapore Society.

Haider Sithawalla

Mr. Haider Sithawalla is the Finance Director of AEC College

He started his career as a civil servant and rose to the position of a Deputy Secretary, when he resigned to join the private sector and joined ACMA as a General Manager and later became its Managing Director. He is currently a Director in a number of publicly listed and private companies He is also a trustee of NTUC FairPrice Co-operative Limited.

Mr. Sithawalla is the Singapore High Commissioner (Non-Resident) to Mauritius, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

Awards Received :

  • The PBM (Public Service Medal) Award given by the Government of Singapore in 1999
  • The Meritorious Service Award given by the National Trade Union Congress of Singapore in 1990
  • The Rochdale Medal Award by the National Federation Co-operatives, Singapore in 1984
  • "Friend of Labour" Award by the National Trade Union Congress of Singapore in 1981

Gopinath Pillai

Mr. Gopinath Pillai is a Non-Executive Director of AEC College

Mr. Gopinath Pillai is the Chairman of Windmill International Pte Ltd (WIL) and Gateway Distriparks Ltd. He is currently the Executive Chairman of Savant Infocomm Pte Ltd and Director of several private companies in Singapore and India. Armed with a degree in Economics and History from the erstwhile University of Malaya, he moved from teaching, banking, project approvals and finance, to working in senior positions or running various companies.

Mr Gopinath Pillai has received many awards; such as Friend of Labour Award, Meritorious Award, Friend of MCD Award, The Public Service Star Award (BBM) and Friend of IT Award.

R Jayapal

Mr. R Jayapal is a Non-Executive Director of AEC College

Jayapal currently serves on some sub Committees of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore (ICPAS). He was a council member of ACCA, Singapore Branch for the past ten years in various capacities. He was also an International Assembly member of Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) for two years. He was an active member of British Alumni being in the committee for about ten years in various capacities. Jayapal has been an associate consultant for National Productivity Board of Singapore.

Jayapal was one of the Founder Member and Past President of the Institute of Management Consultant and served in the council for 12 years in various positions. To date, Jayapal has more than 18 years of management experience in education industry and 8 years in the accounting profession

Dr Danapal

Dr. Danapal Naidu is a non-Executive Director of AEC College

Dr Danapal Naidu was appointed our Deputy Chairman on 21 March 2001. He contributes experience in management, administration and the negotiation of contacts. He was attached to the Family Planning Board of Singapore in the Ministry of Health and currently is the founder, chairman and medical doctor at the Harley Street Healthcare and Wellness Clinic in London. A gynaecologist, Dr Danapal obtained his postgraduate training from London’s Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Prior to starting his own practice, he spent several years as Assistant to The Queen’s Gynaecologist, Sir George Pinker. He is also the director of the Apollo Group of Hospitals in India and Sri Lanka. Dr Danapal graduated as a medical doctor from India and later pursued his specialisation in the United Kingdom.

Mr. N.R. Naidu

Mr. N.R. Naidu is a non-Executive Director of AEC College

Mr. N. R. Naidu is the Chief Operations Officer of AEC College Pte Ltd. He joined AEC Singapore, in 1997 and has close to 13 years of experience in the education industry. Prior to joining AEC, he was working in the UK with few reputable British Institutions namely Central Electricity Generation Board, Britalia Travel and OMNI. Most of his teritary education and work experiences are in the UK.

He has also been involved in privatisation/initial listing of companies in the UK stock exchange.

He obtained a MBA from the University of Hull in the UK. He was also awarded with Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and Charted Management Accountant in the UK.

Jalan Bukit Merah Campus

The School occupies around 24,348 sqft (2262 sqm). We have 11 classrooms that cater to class sizes between 20 and 100 students. Each classroom is fully equipped with the following :

Academic Board Members

Mr Alastair William Clelland (Current Chairman)

Mr Alastair William Clelland brings with him a wealth of first hand experience from the United Kingdom (UK) education sector. Having worked as Head of the Faculty of Business and Finance and as Vice Principal of James Watt College of Further and Higher Education, Scotland, from 1992-2005, Alastair has since gone on to act in a consultancy capacity for AEC, Singapore and is also currently, a module writer for Northern Consortium United Kingdom (NCUK). NCUK is the UK's leading consortia of universities delivering progression level programmes overseas for entry with advanced standing into one of the partner universities. He has a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) majoring in Economics from the University of Strathclyde. Alastair went on to pursue a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from University of Newcastle upon Tyne, and has been a member of the Fellow of Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (FCCA) since 1986.

 

 

 

Associate Professor Victor R Savage

Associate Professor Victor R Savage teaches in the Department of Geography and the Southeast Asian Studies Programme, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, National University of Singapore (NUS). Professor Savage graduated from the University of Singapore in 1973 and completed his MA and PhD in Geography at the University of California, Berkeley under the Fulbright-Hayes scholarship. He is the Honorary Vice-President of the Commonwealth Geographical Bureau (2009-2012); the current Chairman, Sembawang Shipyard's Green Wave Advisory Board, the Co-Editor of the Singapore Journal of Tropical Geography and an International Editorial Board member of the Sustainability Science (Japan) and Geografiska Annaler (Sweden). In 1995, Professor Savage was accepted into the Fellowship of the Indian Society for Environment and Culture.

 

 

 


Associate Professor Vincent B Y Ooi

Associate Professor Vincent B Y OOI teaches at the Department of English Language & Literature, National University of Singapore (NUS). He is also Assistant Dean ( External relations and student life) at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Professor Ooi graduated with a BA (Honours) and MA specialising in English Language from NUS and completed his PhD in Linguistics and Modern English Language from Lancaster University, United Kingdom. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Fulbright Association of Singapore, and is both a Fulbright and Commonwealth Scholar.  Professor Ooi has also been appointed a member of the NUS Extension Academic Advisory Board.

 

 

 

 

Professor Euston Quah

Professor Euston Quah is the Head of Economics and Acting Chair of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Nanyang Technological University. Prior to this, he was Vice-Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the National University of Singapore; Deputy Director of the Public Policy Programme (now called the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy); Founding Director of the Singapore Centre for Applied and Policy Economics (SCAPE), and also headed the economics department at the National University of Singapore. He has a PhD from National University of Singapore. Professor Quah is currently Editor of the Singapore Economic Review and has previously served on the Board of Trustees of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies.
